Quilt Prep

A finished quilt can be such a treasure. Here are some critical points to make sure the finished quilt looks the best it can:

  • QUILT TOP
    • Quilt top should be square and should be able to lie flat on a hard surface.
    • Clip threads on the top of your quilt. Threads can get caught and cause issues when quilting. Press (lift up iron) the quilt top instead of ironing as it may s-t-r-e-t-c-h your quilt.
  • QUILT BACK
    • Quilt back should be square and should be able to lie flat on a hard surface.
    • If pieced, use pieces with the cut along the grain to avoid stretching.
    • The back should be 4" bigger than width and length of the quilt top (2" on all sides).
